Short Term Opportunities
Serve Asia is a short-term missions discipleship program within OMF that focuses on equipping individuals for missions. Through individual and team placements, people have the opportunity to participate in a cross-cultural experience, to support long-term workers in Asia, and/or to catch a vision for potential long-term ministry.
As a Serve Asia worker:
- You can use your skillset and passion to serve God
- You will become part of establishing God's church in East Asia
- You will be included in a discipleship community where OMF workers, both locally and abroad, invest in your journey
As part of the missions discipleship program, the Serve Asia team is not only invested in individuals while they are on the field, but also in training participants before they go and then debriefing them when they return to Canada. Our hope is that individuals cultivate a lifelong desire to serve God and share the good news wherever He leads them.
Training dates for Summer 2014: May 23-25, 2014 in Toronto, Canada.
Debriefing dates for Summer 2014: August 22-24, 2014 in Toronto, Canada.

Prayer is a vital part of the work we do through OMF. We need individuals to pray specifically and boldly for specific community and regional needs and issues. Prayer journeys are organized throughout the year. Most of them are about 2 weeks long and involve intense times of prayer for specific areas of the world.
If there is something specific you would like to do or perhaps there is an area that you want to work in, we can try and facilitate a trip through an individual placement. This is a trip that is specifically set up for the individual.
Be salt and light among an unreached people group through a variety of sports, recreation and other activities rooted in the idea of cultural exchange. You will initiate the building of bridges with those with whom you come into contact.
There are a number of opportunities available for this area. There are needs for English Teachers, children workers, camp ministry helpers and a “Building Team” to remodel one of the centers. There are also needs for artists, webmasters and those with experience in creating curriculum, as well as many other opportunities.
Child Care and TCK (Third Culture Kid) Workers
If you want to apply your passion for children or teen ministry this may be the opportunity for you. You can offer spiritual and physical renewal for children through VBS-like programs for 3 to 12-year-olds and youths. For various retreats and conferences, there is an ongoing need for child care workers to help out, as well as for the OMF Orientation Course in Singapore in July and November. Spend a couple of weeks, or up to a month helping out and participating in a couple of field retreats.
Having the opportunity to live alongside OMF missionaries, you will be able to see life from a long-term worker's perspective. You will assist them with their various ministries and outreach activities. You can be apart of ministries to children, teens and the elderly. There are also some opportunities to help rejuvenate and rebuild the tsunami affected areas.
Participate in Prayer Walks to pray for minority groups in East Asia.
Farmers and Carpenters are needed to help with building projects and other areas.
Childcare help for conferences and Home-school Helpers for families are also needed.
Participate in a one month internship program in an urban poor setting. You can be a part of a field ministry team and immerse yourself in the culture, being involved in an ongoing ministry and developing relationships within local communities.
Bring hope and care to low-income, at-risk communities by participating in summer programs as part of the International Team. Assist missionaries with the various ministries that they are apart of, including summer activities or throughout the year with church planting.
Use your unique giftings and passions to serve in Thailand. Some opportunities include serving in: Outdoor Adventure Ministry, English Camps for Children, English Teaching, and Sports Ministry.
