Creative Access Nations (CANs) Ministry Projects

L88232 - Daniel Scholarship Fund

This fund focuses on new workers from the low income countries of South East Asia (i.e. Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia) to praying minister in a Creative Access Nation. There is a big opportunity to serve in this country, we currently have the fewest number of workers per population there (1 worker per 4 million people). Workers from these low income countries have a significant advantage in relating to these people groups but it is a huge challenge to raise the required support to minister in this field. Funds from this project will go towards the critical foundation-laying process of providing adequate language study to minister in this country.

L64601 – CA/CAN Partnership on Theological and Leadership Development

The project utilizes support from Canada to develop leaders and pastors for the churches in a Creative Access Nation setting.  Priority will be given to fund  travelling expenses of participants, much needed bibles and other teaching materials, and  also for establishing a library.

P64017 –  CAN Research Centre

The Creative Access Nation Research Centre is a virtual entity that encourages research collaboration which sheds light on issues that impact church and mission in a CAN.

L84218, Publishing Manuscripts

This project is for the purpose of raising funds to help publish short devotional books which can hopefully encourage field workers as well as those around the world who are serious about their relationship with Christ.  It provides personal testimonies of how God has revealed Himself in different ways through a variety of valley experiences.  It also provides short Biblical narrative accounts of how God may have revealed similiar truths to His children back in Biblical times.

L84139 – Khmu Bible Translation

Since the start of the Khmu church the Bible has been translated into Lao, Hmong, Mien etc but no significant part of Scripture has been translated into Khmu.  This Project focuses upon the development of a Khmu translation.

P83012 - Durian Team Project

The members of Durian Team are involved in urban poor communities and street-level communities. This team account is designated for the following team ministry activities: community-based training, relief assistance (including emergency), general projects assistance, member development, member care, mobilization and general administrative expenses.

P83211 - I Love Reading, Holistic Ministries in a CAN

To provide a resource for teaching poor children (or adults) how to read.  The vision is that this will give these children a chance to break the poverty cycle.  The project also has the clear aim that it will be an appropriate platform for others in our organization wanting to serve holistically in CANs with phonetic, Roman-script languages.

Open Access Nations (OANs) Ministry Projects

International Headquarters in Singapore

P50001 - New Horizons

OMF is committed to the urgent evangelization of East Asia Millions. One of the key goals of OMF International is to “engage with the sending church in fresh ways to reach the peoples of East Asia.” This project will facilitate development of new global partnerships to mobilize Christian from different parts of the world, particularly in countries where OMF has traditionally not had much of a representation, to reach East Asia’s Millions. Project funds will be used to support travel, participation in relevant conferences and networks, and resources for developing these global partnerships.

P74207 Hudson Taylor Media Project

This project is intended to reach audiences around the globe through theatrical release, broadcasting, and distribution to other markets, including multi-language DVD sales. The ultimate goal of this project is to inspire people to actively serve God and the people of East Asia through sharing about Jesus Christ, addressing their physical, emotional and spiritual needs, and strengthening existing churches in East Asia through training and starting new churches. We believe this project will benefit the Church in Canada by inspiring and encouraging believers in their Christian faith, and will assist OMF International (Canada) in its mission to partner with the Church in Canada to identify and send suitable workers to serve among East Asia's peoples. This project will fund the developmental phase of this multimedia project that will later include the identification of key crew-members and talent, screenwriting for a shorter documentary and a feature-length epic movie on the life of Hudson Taylor to inspire and inform a new generation.

P74201 – IHQ Renovations (Phase 2)

The Cluny Road Redevelopment Project started in 2003 and was finally brought to completion in 2010. Along the way, we saw some amazing answers to prayer. We needed to work closely with multiple authorities in Singapore to obtain their approvals for various aspects of the project – this complex process went very well. The Lord provided willing, skilful workers for design and construction phases . We look at our new facilities and say with joy and humility, “The Lord has done this and it is marvelous in our eyes.”

Philippines

P65310 – Bukang Liwayway Relief Fund

From time to time the poor of the Philippines are impacted by typhoons, floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and fire. It is necessary that Bukan Liwayway is able to mobilize relief in the most efficient and financially transparent way to those whose lives have been devastated in this way.

P65033 - Project Living Fields

Project Living Fields invites potential leaders from Cambodia to study at Asian Theological Seminary (ATS) in Metro Manila, Philippines. Upon completion of their Master level studies, the students will return to Cambodia for several years of ministry, after which some of them will be invited back to pursue Doctoral programs.

P65050 - Indigenous Peoples College Education Assistance

The OMF Southern Philippines Indigenous Peoples Team desires to help up to 15 students per year with College Education. Each student would have completed their High School education and pass the college or university entrance exam. When possible, students would be encouraged to find part time work where they could earn extra finances for their personal needs.

P65051 - Bukang Liwayway Volunteers' Support

Bukang Liwayway is a Church multiplication movement that impacts the urban poor through evangelism and community development. It is spearheaded by several OMF missionaries and a core group of volunteers working full time with very low wages and a wider constituency of unpaid servants in the church who only receive travel money.

P65056 - Bukang Liwayway-Student Sponsorship Program

Many families in squatter areas throughout the Philippines simply can’t afford to send their children to school. Bukang Liwayway supports students through Elementary School, High School and College, giving them opportunities otherwise beyond their reach. At the same time, we offer Bible studies for students, because we believe only Jesus offers real, lasting hope.

P65058 - Philippines Basketball for Jesus, Batang Masaya, Min Project, PHs

Batang Masaya seeks to bring laughter and true joy to children through Christ.  It does so by holding children's clubs in various places.  Each activity includes worship, games, teaching and scripture memory  The ultimate goal is the establishment of dynamic house churches in places where this club has been initiated.

P65064 - Back to School Kids

In Philippine cities, a large portion of the population is poor.  This includes communities that we serve in Quezon City.  Because of this poverty, some families cannot afford to send their children to school.  Other children are too embarrassed to keep attending.  Some out-of-school children are forced to work; a number get hooked on a harmful vice.  The program will benefit 10 students a year through school fees and sundry provision.

P65131 - Bukang Liwayway General Fund

Our vision is to see the urban poor discipled to transform communities. The general fund is necessary to provide the workers with a place to meet and local structures for preschools. It helps to do mobilization, training, retreats, and church planting. It co-finances the yearly youth camp, which is a powerful tool in ministering to the youth. Nearly twenty workers amongst the urban poor do most of these activities. The general fund helps them to carry out their responsibilities.

P65143 – Bukang Liwayway Mobilization

The coordinator will work with all youth leaders & CMM Overseers in all BL areas of ministry encouraging the use of spiritual gifts to reach new areas of ministry. The coordinator will also research the needs of unreached communities and work with contacts within those communities.

Missions teams from urban poor areas will be mobilized and trained in strategies & techniques using their different gifts in creative ways to present the gospel - e.g. Mime, Teaching, Crafts, Art, Drama, etc.

P65151 - Bukang Liwayway Medical Fund

Bukang Liwayway (BL) workers and missionaries are often confronted with medical needs but have little opportunities to help even when resources could be made available. This project is to enable people to respond to the medical needs of the urban poor.

P65232 - Bukang Liwayway Community Relocation

Many slum areas in the cities are under threat of demolition. One particular area Balic-Balic, is under order for the government to be demolished in the next few months. The proposed Bukang Liwayway Relocation community is composed of about 60 – 100 families residing in a specific area. Because of this, BL is looking to build community centres near the relocation sites in order to continue to serve.

Thailand

L84110 -Shan Radio Project

This is a very effective ministry which also requires funding on a consistent basis. Our radio producer is from the southern Shan state. He is on fire for the Lord and is gifted in speaking effectively. He has been producing radio programs for the past three years and we get regular reports of people responding positively to the broadcast. People have come to Christ and others have been reignited in their faith.

P84040 - AIDS Care

AIDS is a real issue amongst the Shan. Straight Church planting and evangelism strategies are somewhat hollow in the context if we can't show the love of Christ to families affected by AIDS. We have a project which is growing to other areas but at present we have 38 children across 6 villages where we have a volunteer in each location. Our project leader is intentionally evangelistic and also a church planter.

P68044 – Thai Relief and Development

As the church in Thailand grows, OMF is finding it has increasing opportunities to partner with the national church, especially the Associated Churches of Thailand (ACT) and other member groups of the Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand (EFT). This partnering often includes helping with specific areas of social need and crisis within Thai society.

P68209 - Isaan Outreach

The OMF is starting to reach out to Isaan. Issan, the North–east of Thailand, has over 20 million people, with only 30,000 Christians. There are over 150 districts, with on average 70,000 people, that do not have a single church! OMF is building a church planting team for Isaan.

P68213 - Lion Handbook to the Bible  (Thai Edition)

The Thai edition of the Lion Handbook to the Bible has become one of the most helpful and accessible guides to the Bible in the Thai language. It has over a hundred special articles by leading scholars from around the world, including character studies of important biblical figures and advice on how to approach the different kinds of writings - story, poetry, prophecy, history, wisdom, apocalyptic - that appear in the Old and New Testaments

P86002 - Unlocking the Door on East Asia’s Diaspora, Training Course

Our goal is to train and help those who teach and speak to those East Asians about Christ to have a better understanding of those issues and equip them to disciple in a culturally contextualised way.

P86003 - OMF International Diaspora Ministries Three-Yearly Conference

As an OMF International Field, Diaspora Ministry personnel benefit greatly from the opportunity to gather in one location for a three-yearly conference particularly as we are a virtual team. This conference would focus on training, alignment, team building, and spiritual encouragement, and would also be a key opportunity to network.

P86004 - OMF International Diaspora Ministries Field – Resources and Literature

The main area of focus for the DM Field is the preparing of returnees; these returnees are impacting their home countries as God’s Kingdom is built in new and dynamic ways. This involves making sure we have good and sufficient resources to provide for our DM workers to use with the many contacts they have. Researching good literature and resources is critical as well as the publicity needed to promote it.
